Tryout Info
What to Expect at Tryouts
Tryouts can be an emotional time for athletes and families. We're committed to a fair, supportive, and thoughtful evaluation process.
What to Expect
· Roster spots this year will be especially limited given the depth of talent.
· Returning players are not guaranteed a spot or the same team placement as last year.
· Some strong, dedicated athletes may not make a team.
· Coaches weigh tangible and intangible factors and make all placement decisions collaboratively.
· Athletes will be assigned a number and have their photograph taken.
Tryouts Are Closed to Spectators
· Parents should not enter the gym, observe tryouts, or approach coaches during sessions.
Tryout Schedule
· Mon 8/10: 3:30–5:00 PM New/Prospective · 5:00–6:30 PM Returning & Invited
· Tue 8/11: 5:00–8:00 PM All Athletes
· Wed 8/12: 5:00–8:00 PM All Athletes · ⭐ Varsity decisions announced Wednesday evening
· Thu 8/13: 4:30–7:30 PM All Athletes / TBD
· Fri 8/14: 4:00–7:00 PM All Athletes / TBD
Cooling-Off Period
· Coaches will not discuss team selections until Monday, August 17. We ask that athletes and parents refrain from sending emails regarding team selections during this period.
For Athletes Who Are Not Selected
Not making a team can be deeply disappointing. Our coaches care about every athlete — after August 17, athletes should email coaches directly to arrange a feedback conversation. Team selection decisions are final; our role then shifts to helping athletes understand the decision and supporting their growth.
Why We Ask Athletes to Lead These Conversations
· Immediate parent involvement can make it harder for coaches and athletes to have a candid conversation.
· This is about letting athletes build skills required for this level of high school sports — self-advocacy, confidence, and communication.
· We know parents feel their child's disappointment too — this isn't about excluding you, just about timing.
